Good Birth for All has set up groups to carry out a variety of activities. There are a number of working groups focusing on specific topics and exchanging expertise in order to improve methodologies. How can we, as a network, connect our most difficult tasks to be successful and supported?

Co-ordination and Alignment of efforts

Connecting the dots to possible partners. Aligning with other movements. Leveraging our efforts in networking. Convening to better coordinate and understand each others work. Unifying midwives across settings and backgrounds.

Building coalitions around social justice and human rights. Empowering equity task forces to convene, be heard, and implement change.

Policy Advocacy

Identify different policy tables, design strategy to sit at the key ones within the next 5 years

Value Proposition of Midwifery Model of Care

Better sharing data analytics and policy recommendations from existing efforts. Creating demonstration projects. Demonstrate lower cost and better outcomes of the midwifery model of care.

Midwifery Workforce Diversity and Development

Ethical issues in maternity care, “Professionalism” in maternity care, Patient-Centered training and service delivery lens. Attention to depth and diversity of midwifery education pipeline. Create a workforce that is racially, ethnically, culturally, geographically and linguistically diverse. Assuring clinical and educational priorities and opportunities are adequate to meet the capacity of the future midwifery workforce. Aim to develop inter-professional models of education and practice to build effective and collaborative maternity care teams.

Communication and messaging around birth. Storytelling to change health policy and legislation. Response to the implicit bias of health disparities on individuals. Diversity and different perspectives at every level.
